Kenneth G. Elzinga, a professor of economics at the University, has continued the mystery writing tradition. The author of three mystery novels, Professor Elzinga describes what distinguishes mysteries from other novels, and draw parallels between how fictional sleuths solve crimes and economists solve problems. Mr. Elzinga also discusses the costs and benefits of writing fiction -- of interest to all those who have ever thought, 'I should write a book about that.'
